If Shadow PC isn't displaying the correct characters when you type, there's likely an issue with your keyboard layout or language settings. Follow this guide to change the keyboard layout on your Shadow PC and your local device.

Change the keyboard layout on Shadow PC

Choose the Windows operating system installed on your Shadow PC to see instructions from Microsoft:

• Windows 10

Choose your local Windows operating system to see instructions from Microsoft:

• Windows 8.1

• Windows 10

​ macOS

Shadow PC lets you select your keyboard layout in the launcher settings if you're using an Apple keyboard. This feature was designed to resolve issues when typing specific keys, such as the tilde (~) key.

To select your keyboard layout, open the Shadow PC launcher, then go to General → Advanced Settings → Apple Mac Keyboard.

If updating your keyboard layout didn't resolve the issue or the layout is already configured correctly, you can also remap your keyboard on Shadow PC.

Remap your keyboard

Keyboard remapping lets you associate a single key on your keyboard with another key. To remap your keyboard on Shadow PC, download and install SharpKeys or see other recommendations from PCMag.​

Android or iOS

If you're using a third-party keyboard on your mobile phone, the keyboard may misbehave due to a bug. Keyboards on mobile operating systems tend to perform better with the manufacturer's software.

Try switching to the default manufacturer's keyboard or uninstall the third-party keyboard.

If you haven't installed a third-party keyboard, we recommend reporting the issue to the device manufacturer (i.e. Samsung, Google, or Apple).
